Yantai to Make Regulations on Protection of Wine Region
Yantai of Shandong Province, which accounts for more than 40% of China's wine production, will further protection of wine grapes in the region. On the morning of January 12, the 17th National People's Congress of Yantai announced that Yantai will formulate the "Regulations on Protection of the Yantai Wine Region " to develop and strengthen the century-old wine industry.
Yantai is the birthplace of Chinese wine industry and the only“International Vine and Wine City ”awarded by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) in Asia. Yantai currently has more than 160 wine production companies, with a wine production of 2,530,000 hectoliter in 2018, achieving an output value of 15.67 billion yuan, accounting for 40.22% and 54.32% of the national total respectively. As a traditional characteristic industry of Yantai, its wine productionoccupies an important position in the Chinese wine industry.
